NCSA Mosaic for the Macintosh User Guide: Tips and Tricks

Viewing Source HTML

One of the best ways to learn the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) is to mimic other documents. To do this you need to view the source file or save a copy of the source.

To view a copy of the original source HTML of a document:

  1. Make sure Enable View Source on the Options menu is checked.
  2. Go to the document you're interested in.
  3. Select View Source... from the File menu.
  4. The HTML source document opens in a separate window using the software specified for HTML documents (specified in the Preferences Apps window from the Options menu; see "Using Alternate External Viewers" on page 4-8). You can save this newly-opened document by using the Save feature in the software package used for text files.
