orders for Release 2.0 of the SCO Open Desktop Server System for 386
and 486 computers based on Industry Standard Architecture (ISA),

PRODUCT NAME: SCO Open Desktop Server System
DESCRIPTION: The SCO Open Desktop Server System is an integrated open
systems server environment that combines the collective power of a
graphical UNIX System, networking services, and DOS interoperability
for today's advanced departmental servers, communications gateways,
and database servers. SCO Open Desktop servers provide an ideal
platform for powerful, 32-bit, distributed, client/server computing
environments on high-performance, industry-standard 386/486
computers and symmetric multiprocessing systems. The foundation of
the SCO Open Desktop Server System is the proven, reliable SCO UNIX
Operating System -- the leading open systems platform for Intel-
based systems. Advanced integrated networking and interoperability
services are also included, enabling organizations to connect
heterogeneous systems. MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows-based PCs, PC
LANs, UNIX Systems, minicomputers, and mainframes can now work
together in efficient, distributed-computing environments. SCO Open
Desktop servers support DOS, UNIX System, XENIX, and X Window

Release 2.0 of the SCO Open Desktop Server System is a new,

supports all three standard system architectures: Micro Channel,

The SCO Open Desktop Server System Upgrade is primarily designed
to take users of SCO Open Desktop Server System Release 1.1, or
users of the SCO Open Desktop Personal System with the SCO Open
Desktop Server Upgrade, to the Release 2.0 level. Each Upgrade
consists of complete media distribution and documentation. The
Release 2.0 Upgrade performs an intelligent, in-place upgrade on
Release 1.1 systems, or may be used to perform full re-installation
of Release 1.0 systems. Cartridge-tape distribution requires a 3.5"
135tpi or 5.25" 96tpi floppy disk drive plus QIC-02 or SCSI tape
controller and drive capable of handling 60-Mbyte QIC-24 tape
format. Users may upgrade their cartridge-tape distribution to CD-
ROM. To install the Upgrade, customers must
use their previous Activation Keys and Serial Numbers.
An upgrade to take users of Release 2.0 of the SCO Open Desktop
Personal System to Release 2.0 of the SCO Open Desktop Server
System, standalone documentation sets, and upgrades to take existing
UNIX System V or SCO XENIX System V users to the SCO Open Desktop
Server System, will also be made available.
