For what it's worth, we're looking at an organic model with cellular
structures. Layering would be derived from it, rather than being the
structural basis. An organic model seems necessary to limit the level of
complexity apparent to users. Actually, it's a web of hierachies from
which larger hierarchies are derived. An ant farm... or a beehive. ;-)
