NCSA httpd Release 1.4 is now available from
<URL:ftp://ftp.ncsa.uiuc.edu/Web/httpd/Unix/ncsa_httpd/httpd_1.4>

It includes a significant performance improvement over Release 1.3.
(See <URL:http://www.ncsa.uiuc.edu/InformationServers/Performance/V1.4/report.html>)
The performance improvement was achieved by pre-forking child processes
and code optimizations. A complete list of the NCSA httpd enhancements
is available at <URL:http://hoohoo.ncsa.uiuc.edu/docs/Upgrade.html>.

The 1.4 documentation is available at
<URL:http://hoohoo.ncsa.uiuc.edu/docs/Overview.html>, but we
are still updating some areas.

We will be using HyperNews to track bugs, discuss possible
enhancements and for FAQ and RAQ (recently asked questions).
Please watch <URL:http://union.ncsa.uiuc.edu/HyperNews/get/www/ncsa-httpd.html>
for future developments.
