Five computer execs to discuss UNIX, Open Systems at UniForum

SAN FRANCISCO -- JANUARY 27, 1993 -- Five well known computer industry executives will offer their views on the international UNIX and Open Systems industry in three 9 a.m. keynote sessions at UniForum 1993 at San Francisco's Moscone Center, March 17-19.

On March 17, Willem P. Roelandts, vice president and general manager, Computer Systems Organization, Hewlett-Packard Co., will open the Conference. Roelandts is responsible for marketing, sales and development of H-P workstations, multi-user systems, operating systems and networking. He joined H-P in 1967, was named a vice president in 1988, and has held his current position since 1990.

The March 18 keynoter will be Gilbert P. Williamson, chair- man and CEO, NCR Corp., a wholly-owned subsidiary of AT&T. A member of AT&T's Management Executive Committee and Board of Directors, Williamson joined NCR in 1962 as a systems engineer, was named executive vice president in 1986, elected president in 1988, and assumed his current position in 1991.

On March 19, the final day of UniForum 1993, the Keynote session will be an Executive Perspective by Roel Pieper, president and CEO, UNIX System Laboratories Inc., David Tory, president and CEO, Open Software Foundation, and Paul Maritz, senior vice president, Systems Division, Microsoft Corp. This panel of industry leaders will present its diverse perspectives into the future of Open Systems, including an analysis of recent industry realignments and their impacts on the future of Open Systems.

UniForum, The International Conference of UNIX and Open Systems Professionals, is the oldest and largest event focusing on UNIX and Open Systems products and business solutions. Some 400 exhibiting companies and 40,000 attendees from 50 counties are expected for the 10th UniForum, which includes its largest Conference and tutorial program ever with over 125 sessions.

The UniForum Executive Conference and the UniForum Technology Managers' Conference, two-day events, will be held March 15-16, prior to the opening of the UniForum 1993 exhibition and Conference.
