The Santa Cruz Operation ships Microsoft Word 5.0 for AT&T 3B2 and 6386 computers running UNIX systems

SANTA CRUZ, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Santa Cruz Operation Inc. announced Tuesday that it is now shipping Microsoft Word 5.0 for AT&T 3B2/400, 3B2/500 and 3B2/600 computers running the AT&T 3B2 UNIX Operating System, and for AT&T 6386 computers running the AT&T UNIX System V/386 Release 3.2 Operating System.
Microsoft Word 5.0 for UNIX Systems brings the sophistication of MS-DOS word processing features to U.S. government agencies and other organizations running multiuser, multitasking UNIX Systems. Designed for offices of any size, Microsoft Word 5.0 makes it easy to create a full spectrum of documents, including columns and graphics.
The UNIX System version is functionally similar to the MS-DOS version, including menus with prompts, as well as speed keys for bypassing menus. Microsoft Word 5.0 requires fewer keystrokes than other word processors to set tabs, margins, headers and footers, or to execute other routine processing tasks.
Microsoft Word 5.0 provides a full set of workgroup productivity tools, all of which are designed to work with the powerful multiuser, multitasking features of the UNIX System.
These tools include links to other applications, so that graphics and spreadsheets can be integrated into word processing documents; style sheets that ensure consistent, high-quality output; an advanced outliner that makes it easy for groups to brainstorm and restructure documents quickly; annotation and redlining features which take the confusion out of editing documents within a workgroup; and advanced tools for archiving and retrieving documents.
Microsoft Word 5.0 for UNIX Systems is available now from SCO authorized distributors and resellers in the United States and Canada for the AT&T 3B2/400 at a U.S. list price of $1,495, for the AT&T 3B2/500 and 3B2/600 at a U.S. list price of $2,395, and for the AT&T 6386 running AT&T UNIX System V/386 at a U.S. list price of $1,095.
