Inforum Communications' 2Cactus Subsidiary Generates Significant Interest in www.SecureBSD.com

Preview version of SecureBSD v1.0 attracts extraordinary number of inquiries from security-minded network administrators and programmers

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 2000--2Cactus Development, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Inforum Communications, Inc. (OTC BB: IFMC), today announced that after only nine hours from the time its preview version of SecureBSD v1.0 premiered on www.SecureBSD.com, the Web site received over 54,000 hits (page views). A typical visit lasted nearly 5 minutes and the longest visit lasted for 211 minutes. As of 4:00 P.M. EDT on May 10, there were approximately 450 downloads of SecureBSD v1.0.

The debut of SecureBSD v1.0 also generated significant interest in open source community. www.freshmeat.net, a Web site dedicated to following the latest advancements in open source solutions, reported, "SecureBSD introduces several key kernel-based security enhancements along with a new extensive and robust logging sub-system which provides administrators a high degree of configurability in securing their systems. SecureBSD is an open-source solution based on a pro-active Intrusion Prevention approach, rather than that of the traditional method of Intrusion Detection Systems developed by most vendors today. It introduces such features as real time cryptographic binary control via Message Digest Algorithm Execution, real time restricted process information directly controlled via the kernel, and real time socket control via registered sockets."

Dave Roberts, Executive Vice President of Corporate Development at Inforum Communications said , "We recognized early on that we had a unique approach to BSD server security that is capable of effecting a paradigm shift in the way that Network Administrators and Web programmers secure their corporate networks. As evidenced by the tremendous traffic to www.SecureBSD.com today, it appears that the technology community at large just may be validating our opinion."

White paper available

A white paper on SecureBSD will be forthcoming and announced on the 2Cactus and SecureBSD Web sites in the next several days. Advance draft copies may be obtained by contacting 2Cactus directly.
