I basically agree with andrieu@alta.com (Joe Andrieu) (see end)

Here's my vote for a beginning standard coordinate system...

-x = left
+x = right
-y = down
+y = up
-z = back
+z = front

(0,0) for center/origin

metric system for units

+y up
