This is a reference link in VRML. The user has control over whether his
system loads the author's specifed geometry, or some stand in icon. Just
like Mosaic puts in icons for graphics images,etc when appropriate
preferences are set. The user should be able to set his own local iconic
reps for remote objects and get the real ones (filtered for/by his
rendering engine) when he wants them.
