HTTP searches under HTTP/1.0

I have found at least one site,
(http://heplibw3.slac.stanford.edu.:80/FIND/hep the SLAC SPIRES database),
which doesn't seem to like the searching routines of the 2.9 version of
the WWW Library.

The search always returns with no result and the title of the document
is severely mangled. The title looks like:
sho indexes HTTP/1.0 Accept: text/plain Accept: text/html Accept: image/jpeg...

from a search string "sho indexes".

It appears that the extra "HTTP/1.0" and "Accept" statements are causing
the slac server problems. Is this a problem that will be widespread?
Or should I just tell SLAC about it and forget it?
