• Apache 1.3.31 certification status.

June 10, 2004

• Apache 1.3.31 has not been certified for use with the Microsoft FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions.  Ready-to-Run Software is continuing to investigate and test the incompatibilities.  Please continue to check here for updates.

• Apache 2.0.49 has been added to list of supported Web Servers for FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions for Unix for the following platforms:

December 11, 2003

• Update on "Microsoft Security Update 813360, ref MS03-051":

  Ready-to-Run Software has investigated the vulnerabilities described in MS03-051 and has determined (by both exploit testing and code review) that these vulnerabilities do not appear to be present in the UNIX versions for the Microsoft FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions.

  Ready-to-Run Software is committed to resolving any security problems related to the UNIX versions of the Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions.

  The FrontPage Server Extensions 2002 for SuSE™ Linux™ on IBM eServer is planned to be released in mid-December 2003.  Please check back at that time for information on downloading a copy.

• Update - Microsoft Security Bulletin MS02-053

  Ready-to-Run Software, Inc has performed a detailed analysis of the FPSE for UNIX in response to the reported security bulletin. Based on our analysis, RTR asserts that the problem does not exist in the current UNIX configurations.

  System administrators, however, should insure that the web server has been upgraded to Apache 1.3.26 or higher, as appropriate, to address a similar security issue with Apache.

October 1, 2002

• Microsoft Security Bulletin MS02-053
  
  Ready-to-Run Software is currently investigating the recently reported security vulnerability (Microsoft Security Bulletin MS02-053) Buffer Overrun in SmartHTML Interpreter Could Allow Code Execution. At this time, we have no indication that installations using the FrontPage Server Extensions for UNIX are vulnerable. As soon as additional information is available then we will make an announcement.
  
  System administrators, however, should insure that the web server has been upgraded to Apache 1.3.26 or higher, as appropriate, to address a similar security issue with Apache.
   
• Apache 2.0 Support
  
  Microsoft has recently announced that support for the FrontPage Server Extensions with Apache 2.0 will be available in a future release. Ready-to-Run Software has already begun the work necessary to provide Apache 2.0 support. Additional information will be posted concerning the upcoming release as it becomes available.

• In response to the CERT VU#944335 advisory, RTR is pleased to announce Apache 1.3.26 is now  supported.  The 1.3.22 patch to Apache functions with Apache 1.3.26 unchanged.

• The Microsoft Frontpage Server Extensions 2002 for UNIX are available.  While Server Extensions are not essential to host FrontPage-based Web sites, they do extend FrontPage-based Web sites with functionality like multi-user and remote authoring support, search, forms capabilities, and usage analysis.  Download the FrontPage Server Extensions 2002 for Unix based Servers.
   
• The Administrator's Guide to SharePoint Team Services and the FrontPage Server Extensions 2002 is a guide to understanding, installing, and maintaining the FrontPage Server Extensions on UNIX and Windows-based platforms as well as SharePoint Team Services.   Revised fp_install.sh to handle virtual web installations, rebuilt to work with RedHat 7.0.
  Includes the version4.0 apache daemon.  Please note that if you have downloaded the extensions between January 5, 2001 and February 7, 2001 you should replace those extensions with this kit.
